The First Half
The Aizawl FC fans of Shillong came in numbers to support their team bearing flags and banners of Aizawl FC, the game starts with Aizawl FC on their attacking foot forward.

Aizawl FC won a corner few minutes after the start, Captain David floated the ball from the right corner spot, Lajong FC’s under 22 keeper Vishal Kaith misjudged the incoming ball and failed to push the ball into safety, Joel Sunday was right on spot to tap the ball past the goal line. The early goal sent the Aizawl FC fans roaring while the home fans stands shocked and silenced.

Shillong Lajong FC put the game on level terms in the 17th minute, Orji takes a shot from the edge of the box, but his shot got deflected and fell to Bipin who takes a shot with his first touch, goal keeper Aw.P-a managed to save the ball with his out stretched foot but the ball ricochets to Fabio Pena who headed the ball home.

It was Shillong Lajong FC once again in the scoreboard, the home team took the lead a minute after scoring their equaliser. Penn Orji won the ball in the middle of the park, feeds the ball to Fabio Pena who made a clever run down the left, the Brazilian forward raced clear and drove a powerful low shot to give his team the lead.

The home team had the momentum of the game, attacking and keeping constant pressure on the visiting team, thanks to our goal keeper Lalawmpuia who pulled some great saves for the visitors.

Samuel Lalmuanpuia scored the third goal for the home team in the 37th minute, the Mizo youngster received the ball at the edge of the box, settled the ball with his first touch and whips a curling ball to the top right corner, a true top drawer stuff.

The Second Half

The second half was pretty much the same story with the exclusion of the four goals. Shillong Lajong FC controlled proceedings of the game, Aizawl FC continuously failed to find firm grasp of the ball. The home team played the second half attacking and defending in style, the way the men in Red played can be described by one word – ‘domination’.

Aizawl FC had their stints of attack but was unable to create any danger for Vishal Kaith. Aizawl FC’s Alfred and Joel Sunday took their chances at goal but were unable to find target, for the ones that were on target Kaith reacted well enough to keep the final score at 3-1.
