A goal by C.K Vineeth is enough for the home team to keep their title hopes alive.

 

Bengaluru FC and Aizawl FC faced each other for the second time, in their first encounter visitors Benguluru FC went home with three points winning the game 1-0 with the only goal of the match scored by Osano in the 26th minute from a freekick by Keegan Pereira, the second encounter too ended with the final score of 1-0, for the second time Keegan Pereira’s free kick led to a goal, this time with a header into the top right corner by the tall CK Vineeth.

 

Aizawl FC entered the game coming off a 2-0 home match victory over Mumbai FC, on the otherhand the home team ended up as second best in the AFC opener against Lao Toyota FC. Aizawl FC needed a win to stay clear off the relegation zone, Bengaluru FC too needed a win to continue in their title race and put pressure on league leaders Mohun Bagan A.C.

 

The match started bright, the fans that came for the match are in for some good football, the home team used the flanks well and controlled the game with possession, Aizawl FC on the other hand were looking for a chance to counter.

 

Aizawl FC had their first shot on target with an effort by Alfred K Jaryan, followed by another shot on goal by Albert which was saved by Bengaluru FC’s Amrinder.

 

In the minutes that followed CK Vineeth had his effort wide off target, Udanta too came close to breaking the deadlock in the 28th minute but his effort from close range hit the side netting.

 

As the game went on Aizawl FC continued to have more shots on and off target and amassed 8 shots, the home team too had their chances with 4 goal shots in the first half but both teams suffered from their inability to convert their chances.

The first half ended with both teams even at 0-0.

 

 

After play resumed, Aizawl FC made a substitution and brought on William Lalnunfela for Albert.

 

The home team broke the dead lock in the 49th minute, CK Vineeth scored for the home team with his head from a free kick by Keegan Pereira. Once again Aizawl FC managed to thwart the dangers from open play but failed to keep their goal safe in set piece. Osano had scored from a Keegan Pereira free kick in the first encounter.

 

Aizawl FC made another substitution in the 61st minute  - Bta made way for Joel Sunday.

 

Vineeth had a chance to score a second goal past the hour mark but his effort lacked power and direction, went wide for a goal kick.

 

Aizawl FC came close to an equaliser in the 78th minute when Alfred and Joel went through on goal, but Bengaluru FC’s Osano stood tall in his defense line and blocked Aizawl FC’s attempt on goal.

 

Aizawl FC made their final substitution of the night in the 82nd minute - Thopi came in for H.Lalmuankima

 

Alfred had another chance to equalise a few minutes from the final whistle, but Amrinder read the ball well to keep the score at 1-0.

 

After the added minutes were played the referee blows the final whistle.

 

Aizawl FC will travel to Mumbai for an away encounter against the Mumbai team on the 2nd of March 2016.
