Aizawl FC 1-2 Chanmari FC

 

 

The opening match of the Independence Day Football 2016 was played today under the drizzly weather in Aizawl. The match between defending Champions Aizawl FC and Chanmari FC ended in a 2-1 defeat for the Champions.

The First Half

 

The match started off bright as both teams are fielding their best with their focus straight on goal. Chanmari FC looked to be the better team as the men in blue dictated play and managed to create chances, threating our backline in a number of occasion, Malsawmfela came close to scoring the opener in the 15th minute but the striker over powered and misdirected his shot from close range.

 

The striker made amendments to his error 10 minutes later in the 25th minute as he beats his man and tucked his shot to the far post.

 

Chanmari FC added their goal advantage in the 36th minute, Rammawia receives the ball in the middle of the pitch, raced towards goal and beats Ṭhakima with his pace, fed the ball to Fela Zote who made no mistake to put the score at Aizawl FC 0-2 Chanmari FC.

 

 

 

The Second Half

 

Aizawl FC upped their game in the second half and played a better game, but are still unable to score their first goal of the tournament. Chanmari FC played their defensive tactics in the second half and defended deep in their half, Aizawl FC attacked in waves but Chanmari FC’s backline stood tall. Aizawl FC made changes to add power upfront, but were unable to break the defensive wall of Chanmari FC.

 

Ghanaian striker Bright Mends went on a 1v1 with the keeper 25minutes after the restart, Chanmari FC’s Lalmuanawma got the better of Bright Mends as be saved the shot with his foot keeping his goal intact.

 

Brandon got his chance a few minutes later after the ball ricochets to his foot, the winger took his shot, Lalmuanawma once again was the centre of attention as he managed to save his goal amidst the melee.

 

Aizawl FC continued to attack in numbers looking for their first goal, Lalramchullova scored his first goal of the tournament in the 86th minute, left wing back Lalramchullova fires a screamer of a shot to the near post leaving Chanmari FC’s Muanawma flabbergasted.

 

After the two added minutes were played the referee blew his whistle to end the first match of the Independence Day Football Tournament 2016.
