Aizawl FC was formed in 1984 at Aizawl and registered under Societies Registration (Extension to Mizoram) Act, 1976 (Mizoram Act No.3 of 1977) with an aim to promote education and sports among the ST and Minorities of Mizoram.


For fulfilling of AIFF I-League criteria, Aizawl Football Club have been registered as a Pvt. Ltd. Company. The CIN of the company is U92412MZ2015PTC008285.

The Society has initiated various programs and projects for the upliftment of younger generation through proper framing at tender age. With a motto of “Catch Them Young”, the organization strives for enhancing talents of tribal children within and outside schools.

Aizawl FC has run Aizawl FC Academy (Sports Schools) at Chite Mini Sports Complex, Aizawl where regular academic studies are conducted alongside vocational and sports training. Aizawl Football Club is a pioneer Society for promotion of professional football having four football clubs- Aizawl FC Senior (I-League team), Under-18, Under -15,Under-13 and Under 10(Grassroot). Due focus is given to the improvement of education of the team members as well as learners in the Aizawl FC Academy.

On the 19th October, 2012 the legitimate ownership of Aizawl FC was transferred to Mr. Robert Romawia Royte, Chairman & Chief Managing Director, Northeast Consultancy Services (TT Royte Group). This step was initiated with a belief and expectation for a better financing and management administration.

On the very day that the ownership was transferred to CMD of Northeast Consultancy Services (TT Royte Group), Aizawl Football has become one of the Unit of TT Royte Group. Under the owner and Presidency of Mr. Robert Romawia Royte the club soon appointed its Board of Governors.

Aizawl FC Aims and Objectives:

  1. To establish and run Academies/Schools for ST and Minorities and facilitate their studies.
  2. To Promote Sports values among youth, improve the standard of Football.
  3. To Develop Strengths, skills and talents of youth and players inculcating positive mindset, confidence and mental skill like better concentration.
  4. To Provide facilities and access to football on equal terms, respect for difference, tolerance and understanding through education and social interaction.
  5. To Win Indian-League and AFC Champions League and Cup.

The management of the club is vested in the hands of Board of Governors, they control and manage the club affairs, property & funds of the club.

Aizawl Football Club is an Indian Professional football club from Aizawl, Mizoram. Aizawl FC earned the entry in India’s top-tier league, I-League, after winning 2015 I-League 2nd Division and have been playing I-League since 2015–16 season .

Aizawl FC was founded in 1984 in Aizawl, the capital of the Indian state of Mizoram and have sinced participated in various amateur tournaments and also participated in 2nd Division I-League since 2011-12 season.

In January 2012 they were officially certified by the All India Football Federation to participate in the I-League 2nd Division, the second tier of football in India. This move would begin a new chapter for Aizawl Football Club as they would officially become professional.

In September 2012 Aizawl FC participated in 2012 Indian Federation Cup Qualifiers. After playing four (4) seasons in 2nd Division I-League. In 2015, Aizawl FC won 2015 I-League 2nd Division and as a result they were participating in India’s top-tier football tournament I-League in 2015-16 I-League, the first team from Mizoram to do so.

  1. Durand Cup 2016: Semi Finalist of the tournament. Aizawl FC reached semi final after topping Group B with 10 points.
  2. MFA Super Cup 2016: Champions of the tournament.
  3. I-Day Invitation Football Tournament 2016, Mizoram: Champions of the tournament.
  4. Federation Cup 2016: Runners up in federation cup 2016. Lost to Mohun Bagan AC in the final match at Guwahati.
  5. I-League 2015-16: 8th Position of 9 I-League Teams with 16 points from 16 matches.
  6. Mizoram Premiear League 2015-16: Aizawl FC managed to finish the Mizoram State top league as champions after defeating Chanmari FC in the league finals.
  7. MFA Super Cup 2015: Runners up of the tournament. Lost to BVT FC.
  8. I-Day Invitation Football Tournament 2015, Mizoram: Champions of the tournament.
  9. 2nd Division League 2014-15: Aizawl FC has been playing I-League 2nd Divison since 2011-12 season (4 seasons in a row). Aizawl FC has finished the League as Champions and they are the first team from Mizoram to play Indian Top League (I-League).
  10. Mizoram Premiear League 2014-15: Aizawl FC managed to finish the Mizoram State top league as champions after defeating Chanmari FC in the league finals.
  11. I-Day Invitation Football Tournament 14, Mizoram: Aizawl FC lost to Dinthar FC in the Semi Final by 2-1. 8 MPL Teams and 8 First Division Teams of Mizoram participated in the tournament.
  12. IGAR(E) Tournament 2014: 1 Team each from Manipur, Tripura, Assam and Mizoram participated in the tournament. Aizawl FC won the tournament defeating Manipur Team 3-0 in the Final without conceding a single goal and scoring 21 goals in 4 matches.

Performances of Aizawl FC Academy

  1. I-League U-19 2013-14: Aizawl FC Participated in I-League U-19 2013- 14 and finished the league with 2 draws and 1 lost in Rest of India Zone Group. Vanlalduatsanga, Aizawl FC Striker was the top scorer in the rest of India Zone Group A.
  2. Mizoram Premier League U-17 2013-14: Aizawl FC Academy (U-17) participated in the Mizoram Premier League U-17 and lost in the semi final by 1-2.
  3. Aizawl District Football Tournament 2013-14: Aizawl FC Academy participated in the Aizawl District 1st Division Football Tournament in which they managed to play final but unfortunately lost to Electric FC. In Season Ending tournament Aizawl FC Academy reached the Semifinal but lost to Bethlehem FC.
  4. Royal Gold Cup 2013, Nagaland: Selected 12 Teams from Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur and Mizoram participated in the tournament. Aizawl FC lost the Semi Final Match to Manipuri Team by 1-2. The Royal Gold Cup team of Aizawl FC were comprised of Academy and Senior team.
  5. ADFA 1st Division League 2014-15: Aizawl FC Academy team is one of 8 ADFA first division team. They are the champions of 1st Division League 2014-15.
  6. Mizoram Football Association (MFA) Cup 2014: Aizawl FC Academy represented Aizawl District as they are champions of 1st Division League and become runners up after lost the final match to Champhai FC.

  5. Malsawmkima to Electric FC (1st Division Club, Mizoram).

Lalremruata was selected to represent India in the international Allianz Junior Football Camp 2012 to be held in Munich, Germany.

Moody Lalawmpuia is selected to represent Mizoram for the coming Bajaj Allianz Junior Football Camp 2014. 8.
